Plastic scratches the windshield??

Hey-

I had some stubborn goo on my windshield right in my line of sight. I used one of those plastic sponge/scrubber things (green mesh) to get it off.

I believe the scrubber was clean, but anyway, there are slight scratches in my windshield. They are subtle, can't be seen except in direct light through the window.

Can plastic really scratch the glass, or is what I'm seeing plastic residue?

If it is tiny scratches (which I think is the case), can windows be "buffed"?

Thanks-

PC

If you used some lubricant (glass cleaner) I wouldn't expect any scratches unless it was one of the super heavy duty scrapers (scourers?). If it did, Eastwood (FTE sponsor) has a kit (kits) that I'm tempted to order myself. Everything else that I've bought from there has been great and I've seen the kits recommended before. Just don't do it too often, you're eating away at the glass...

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm going to check out some professional help as I don't have a driveway and am not all that handy. I'm glad to know that it can be dealt with, which appears to be the case after reading the link-

Thanks-

Wow, good to know this... If only they could mimick the human fingernail, seems to be the best non-scratching goo and stuff remover ever made!!

Semi off-topic, I know, but my dinkus brother-in-law used a big ole metal spatula as an ice scraper on his side view mirrors once. Then had the nerve to whine about how cheap the mirror glass must be, to scratch up so easily. (And they let these people reproduce...)

A little late now, but I think the green pads, especially "Scotchbrite" brand are coated with pumice and will scratch glass. Seems like there are white and red varieties, too. I think one of those is just plain plastic, as are many generic kitchen scouring pads.
