I finally got my grandpas 1962 F-100 unibody moved to my house, but am having trouble getting the windows cleaned.
This truck sat in a carport since at least 1988 and has 20 years of dirt, grime and what ever on it.
I towel washed the windows last night and went over them with a sponge/scrubber and soap today, but they still have a white milky substance
on them.
Any ideas on what will get it off ???
Also, what are the factory size tires that would go on this thing ??
Yes, the 235s are taller and the 70 is slightly wider.....My 57 Chevy and 59 Pontiac had that milky stuff at the edges of the windows in spots....but since I like the 'patina' these old rides get over time, I didn't worry 'bout it too much...but it seems like the condition on your vehicle is somewhat more of a problem..
I'd bet the stock, original tire size on your truck was 15 x 7.50 bias ply..that's what I ran on my 66 F100 Shortbox Styleside..way retro looking...they even had tubes inside...that with the bottlecaps...I was stylin' harsh. Not too good in curves tho'...

I kicked that F250 sideways in an e-brake slide out in front of my house...in front of the neighborhood kids...and the County Sherriff..... we just had a field across the road from our side, no big deal...he got out and shared a few sweet words about safety, and this and that...no ticket though... I always looked twice thereafter.
Safety glass is made of two thin sheets of glass with a plastic liner in the middle. Moisture gets in, the glass turns milky.
Ever seen a 1940's or earlier car with yellowed windows? Same thing happened to them, but the liner used back then was a yellowish hue, which only showed up once moisture got to it.
The tires on the front are so old and weather cracked all I can make out
is H-78-15 and 4 ply polyester.
Have no idea if this has to do with the size or not.
I am not sure about the H other then tires with sizes such as you posted are some really old tires...early mid 70s I think was when that system was phased out.
The 15 is the wheel size...
This tires were bought used some time in mid 1980s and sat in the carport
with the truck until I had them put on about a year ago just so we could
move the truck around.
At least they are staying aired up.
If anyone around Tulsa has a good set of used tires 235/70/15 or larger please let me know.
I really like your Camper Special ! What color will you be painting it ?
Well I got out and washed the window 3 different times and finally knocked off most of the stains.
The milky stuff around the edges are actually not to bad, it just had some ground in dirt that needs some steel wool and windex to get it off completely.
Thanks for your help !!

Don't you have the 1973/79 Car parts catalog? Seems to me you do...
Waltz over to this section, kiddo and see what size tires '78/79 Bronco's used.
Don't ask me what the new metric equivalant sizes are, I haven't a klew!
Back then one had to know all this scheiss, otherwise it was impossible because of tire size changes, to know what speedo drive & driven gears were required.
The 1964/72 truck parts catalog didn't list most of the new letter series tires. So one had to know what letter series tire replaced what.
WOW, these H-78 15s sure are tiny tires for the 1973-1979 Ford trucks.
This 62 is a lot smaller than those trucks and these look like little donut tires.
