Two or three of my body mounts are rusted through, whats the best way to repair something like this?
The body is coming off as soon as I get a couple people over to help me lift it off, so I will be able to move the chassis around and have a clean shot at everything. Would you just weld plate on the frame and then cut through for the body mounts?
Well, its on a bronco and the rear body mounts are directly through the frame.. the frame has rusted around them, I can't replace the mounts.. because its the frame.
I welded some plates on the front cab mounts on the frame of my F 150 that looked just like yours. It worked real good. Just get something at least as heavy as the frame. I think I use 11ga (which is 1/8") sheet metal. It was what I had on hand. If you don't care about show quality you can just put a plate on top of the frame and weld it in place. Should work fine.
I got the rest of the body mounts off and I only had one good one left and I also found out my d-shaft was missing a bolt and very loose.. it probably would've come off and took out at least a few things the next time I drove it.
Is there anywhere I can buy the cab mounts in the front that are riveted to the frame?
