I'm replacing the front cab body mounting bracket on the drivers side. It is badly rusted and the floor pan is also rusted in the corner under it. I cannot tell how many spot welds there were to the floor pan. I drilled all the spot welds on the door pillar and triangle gusset. I was wondering if the bottom portion is only spot welded to the floor pan or if it is spot welded all the way through to the upper cab mounting plate. The mounting cap and plate are in good shape and I did not want to remove them if I didn't have to.
Thanks David
Looking at the tranny cover you have great fab skills all though I haven't worked on a 55'
At that intersection of the door jam floor pan and the brace/ cowl, I would brace it to keep the door opening and cowl in place before cutting the rot out
Here is a picture of the underside of the floor with the cab mount removed. As you can see, the cab support on the upper side (the one I believe that you are concerned about) is in fact only welded to the floor. The cab mount on the underside is welded to the rocker and the floor but not at the same location as the upper cab support. Hope this makes sense...
