no I don't think the cam timing would do it...not 2 degrees.....
where did you get a gear set that retard it 2 degrees. and why?
check the choke and you might have to move the accel pump to another hole, try the hole at the end of the pump arm, it has three.

I have tried every thing like that the 2 degree retard is for emission controlled motors I put a 79 block in mine I replaced the timing chain but my father ordered it and I don't know what year for

It seems as if I had more pwer with the old stuff, Bfore while going down the highway in third punch it and it would put u back in the seat now it seems to bog, Should I try retarding the timing a little more????????????
