I have a 19 mpg 2000 XLT 7.3 Excursion and a 21 MPG 2006 Mazdaspeed6 with a 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder. The excursion carries 3 kids and a wife most all the time it moves, the Mazda carries me alone 95% of the time. The tree huggers should want to burn Mazda for making a 275 HP 4 cylinder that can only get 21-22 on the interstate and 15 mpg around town! Fuel per person... the excursion is a king of kings when it comes to fuel economy! Its the most economical vehicle on the market for carying 4-8 folks and towing a 13,000 lb trailer! Nothing else can even come close!

Love our Ex, thinking about looking for another to store and have if this one ever dies, it was amazing how Ford buckled to the tree huggers. Every time I pass a hybrid or little small itty bitty car with a tree hugger type bumper sticker (we all know the ones) I gas the livin crap out of it and dump the black smoke out and give them a nice big ol SEG as I go by!!!
God designed this world,,,, and I am pretty sure he's ALOT smarter than the tree huggers!

Wasn't poor sales the reason that the Ex was killed?

Ya poor sales killed the ex. But what caused the sales? Poor marketing.

If ford don't bring the ex back, they better figure out something else with a diesel that can haul the whole family. I won't buy anything but diesel from here on out, especially after I just got my 96 PSD. 20+ MPGs in an 8500 lb truck is incredible, and you just can't look passed that. My buddy has a similar truck w/ a 351 he only gets in the 12 range. Just talked the old lady into test driving a TDI last night.....40+ MPGs on the highway is just something you can't look passed these days.

I think one of the main reasons it did not sell as well is because Ford made most of them the Limited models. If they made an XL, surveyors and contractors would have loved it. If more XLT models were made those of us that make less than 80k a year would have got one. The Limited model is nice but all of the options drove the price to high.

In my opinion Ford will not bring back the Excursion. The trend is to fuel efficient vehicles and the X is on the other end. I have been parking my X frequently these days. With the V-10 getting me 10.8 mpg I am just not happy with the price I have to pay to fill her up at the pump. On top of that I always have to put the credit card in twice because I am over the pumps credit limit.
My X has brought us some great memories with the 130K miles. She runs greats and looks great but it is crazy to use her for driving around town or commuting. Luckily I have a few other vehicles that we use unless we have to pull out the X to take our family of 6 out for the evening.
They are great vehicles and really hold up well and obviously are pretty safe vehicles for the family but it hurts to have to put almost $160 to fill up the tank.........ick! (I get the same feeling I did when I watched old yeller) except the dog is still alive you you are just killing it becasue dog food is too expensive.

I don't THINK they will, BUT, IF they ever did and I had the money, I would ,more than likely buy one AGAIN!

Gas prices.

Where I come from in Europe, gas is over 6 bucks a gallon but then, their bitty cars don't take shi* worth of gas
THIS is what someof them drive
