fuel prices went back down to 1999 prices of $1.30 per gallon .... we know gas prices will NEVER be that low again ...
Don't put any money on that yet. With all these alternative fuels being created, and electric/hybrid car production gearing up big time right around the corner, gas could become as plentiful as M&Ms in the grocery stores.
In 2015 a young kid might be saying, "Hey look Dad, there's an Excursion. They still run on diesel and gasoline!"
Why does everyone think gasoline is overpriced at $3 per gallon?
Only because it snuck up too fast..... on people who have not budgeted for a $80 to $100 fillup twice a week. Nobody saw it coming, so it makes the situation 10 times worse than it really is.
I like the high fuel prices. It keeps all the young reckless punks with their fart can loudboxes off the road. They can't afford to joyride as much now. It has probably saved lives already nationwide.
You know, I really don’t understand all the environmental BS everyone links to the Excursion. Listen to some people and the X is responsible for the end of the world. In reality there are a lot of passenger cars out there that get a lot less than the 14 MPG I get around town and 18 MPG on the highway with my 6.0 X. The H3 we had got about 9 MPG around town. I hear the new FJ Cruiser is also around 9 MPG. And so on.
no one has ever mentioned that i heard of, my xterra being an environmental bad apple, but yet the dumb thing gets less mpg then my f250 psd did. it get maybe 1-2 mpg better than my mom's tahoe, which the enviro whacks go nuts over also.
so i imagine an excursion psd, pound for pound, is one of the best mpg autos on the market.
Someone told me once that the Excursion was THE most profitable vehicle Ford ever built. I believe it because of the interchangeable parts with the “F” Series pickups. A lot less tooling involved which obviously saved huge dollars for Ford. With that said, I’m surprised Ford didn’t find a way to keep the model alive. Other vehicles (i.e. Escalade, Suburban) have gotten bigger and bigger which I assume means less mileage. So…………………..
I was reading an article somewhere that said that the 'luxury' SUV's (ie escalades) haven't seen any loss in sales, while the 'regular' suv's saw the big drops in sales hardcore with the higher gas prices.
I guess ppl who buy Escalades don't care if gas is $4 a gallon...
My 04 6.0 X averages 18 mpg My wifes 06 Honda CRV averages 21 mpg The Excursion is double it's weight and double it's HP with Diesel being cheaper the regular right now
$2.59 vs. $2.85 Burlington NJ about 1 hour ago. I think the X is getting better mileage per dollar then the Honda. Could this be possible?
THe v-10 is a gas guzzler and it may hurt at the pump, but i think its worth it to gun it. Theres nothing that can wipe that smile off my face when that v-10's screamin at 4,000 rpms. If they brought the Ex back, i would be one HAPPY CAMPER! Thats why i am keeping my Ex for a LONGGGGG time. When it dies, ill just rebuild the engine
