C-6 Problems

I have a C-6 in a 72 f-250. i bought the truck several months ago and it was not running when i did. the previous owner claims he was driving home from walmart when the truck quit and that he had not driven it since. i got the motor working but now the transmission is acting really wierd. it has 1st gear no matter were the shifter is placed. i replaced the modulator as it had trans fluid in the line but still the same thing. my next step is to rebuild the transmission but if anyone could shed light as to what might be wrong i would really apreciate it.

how long did it sit? mabe the valvebody's a lil gumed up.put'er up on good solid jackstands pionting the truck away from anything and hop in there and run it threw the gears abounch of times lettin the wheels spin.now this sounds weird but to losesen one up ive put about a shootglass full of break fluid in it and run about 5-10 min on stands change trans fluid and it was ok for another 2 years
