Stock Air Cleaner with Modified Engine
I have read a lot of posts in here about the advantages of using the stock air cleaner. When I bought my '85, it came with an aftermarket open element air cleaner in place of the stock air cleaner. Also it now has Duraspark ignition, all emissions removed, headers, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, and a Holley Truck Avenger carburetor. With all these modifications, will the stock air cleaner still work? What will I need to do to make it work on my truck?

The stock aircleaner will work fine. The best senario is to use the chrome aircleaner in the summer, and hook the stock one up in the winter. When it's miserable cold and rainy outside, the engine will run much better with a little bit of heated air introduced into the carb.
I have headers and what I did was go to Lowe's and buy some aluminum flashing and some small sheetmetal screws and made my own heat shroud around one of the tubes to hook the hose up to the aircleaner snorkle.
