I dont have a code shooter, i dont know where to get one
my truck wont even start now/ rotates all day long but no start
what is an IAC
I think it an electrical problem
over and out
You can learn there how to get your truck to tell you the codes. You just put in a jumper, and turn the key to on (without running). Count the number of blinks of the check engine light and you have your codes.
the IAC is the Idle AIr Control valve. It controls the amount of gas that goes to your engine during idle (or without a load). But, if your truck won't even start, then it does sound like either fuel or electrical.
But, if you can get it to tell you the codes, that will tell you if anything easy to fix is broken.

Tellyou what thats smartest, most concious thing I have read in along time way to be I hope many more read that post
anyways guys I gave up and handed it over to a mechanic down the road, he said he will look at it for one hour/$90 and let me know what he comes up with. I felt bad walking away from my truck like that but I dont have the electrical tools/computers todeal with such a problem. I will let you guys know what the man says, I will check out www.fordfuelinjection.com thanks
That happened to a friend of mine a while . we rode to work to gether and started idled fine and reved fine, put it in gear and stalled. he had to replace the brain. it was older then yours ,just a thought. good luck Bob
the mechanic said fuel pumps good, sparks good, fuelinjectors good, however they found timing chain off/ streched, and or gear rounded, waiting for an estimate
fan off, belts off, water pump off, ect. Anyone ever do this before, sounds simple enough, any input would be appreciated. Mechanic said 5 1/2 hours
would like to do myself and save labour costs
it's simple enough, most important thing is making sure you line the new gears up properly . i'd suggest getting someone that has experience to help you with it if you aren't sure. you don't want to take all that off, put it back together and find out you did it wrong. it's time consuming but not hard. i definately would not want to pay a shop to do it for me, the labor would eat you up for a timing chain, gaskets that cost less than $50.
the mechanic told me estimate of 1000 dollars all in.
Truck has 280,000 kilometers on it just thought you guys could use the info just in case you find yourself scratching your heads at your ford truck one day with the same problem I listed at the top of the post thank you for the input. Live and Learn....
