Weeeeird noise.

So a while ago, after washing my truck I started to notice a very strange noise coming from around the glove box area...It sounds like trickling water or clicking..Very odd. A friend thought maybe the rad had air in it, so we popped the cap off and ran the truck for a bit..No luck. I have since changed the rad fluid(once drained it all..then had to do rad work...) and still...Same problem. If it IS the rad, am I trying to get the air out the wrong way? Anyone know what else it could be? Doesn't seem to effect performance, just makes a weird, annoying noise.

Also, sometimes when I let the clutch out, the truck seems to bog or feels like the clutch is slipping..then grabs hard and is fine. I am pretty sure it is not the clutch because I can't smell it burning, and it doesn't slip other than that.

The sound behind your dash is most likely your heater core. Nothing to worry about until if/when it goes out...

If it sounds more like clicking, and is random, it could be the wiper control unit.

I think I have the same noise that your talking about Slow96. After the truck has been shut-off it will make noise for around 20-30 seconds, sounds like a vacuum leak or something... I hope not!! There was a thread about this a few months back and I think there were 10+ guys that all said their truck did it after shutting off. I don't think it's much to worry about.

when you shut your truck down with the a/c on
you will get a hiss while the freon equalizes
from the low to high side at the orifice

There is no noise when the truck is shut off. It seems to do it most when the truck is cold and I hit the gas. It will also do it when the truck is warm though too.

i bet someone changed the heater core, and put the coolant lines on backwards. so now, instead of the coolant going into the bottom of the core and filling it up, then flowing out the top, the coolant goes into the top of the core and pours down and out the bottom. this will cause a water rushing or gurgling sound.

my truck makes that flowing water sound...I thought it was air trapped in the heater core...i only notice it when its cold though... I only notice it if the radio is off.

very easy to swap the hoses. since the core is higher than the radiator, you don't even have to drain any coolant.
it is best though to find a service manual, and look for the proper hose routing diagram to make sure you have them on properly though. my newest book is for the 91, so i can't look up the line placement for you..

does it still make much of a difference?
