Wierd Idle issues
2002 f250 5.4
When cold it starts no problem. In gear and go.
After warm up, I have to push the gas pedal to get it to start. After it starts, it idles up to 1500-2000 for a few seconds, then comes back down to normal idle. But some times it almost dies out (while in park). If I put it in gear while its idled up it will die immediately. If I let it idle back down and it doesn't die it will smooth out and then if I put it in gear it will stay running as normal and off I go.
Im thinking idle air control valve... but not sure.
My shift linkage on the column has been sloppy too... any chance thats related?
Thanks

Probably not the shift linkage, that's not related at all. Definitely sounds like an IAC valve. Telltale for that is being able to keep it running with the gas pedal. That's you doing what the IAC should be doing, and a sign it's not able to meter air into the manifold like it should.
