Angry Door Lock Problems!

my 97 f-350 psd reg cab has been having door lock problems. the driverside door has started give me a bit of trouble whenever i go to unlock it. its gotten so bad at times that ive had to go to the passanger side to get in my truck. i dont seem to have a problem with locking the truck, its only been when i go to unlock it, so far anyways! does anyone, or has anyone had this problem? does anyone know how to fix it for not a whole lotta $$$$? thanx guys

i will be checking out that actuator fix more indepth. my truck has keyless entry i just dont have any remotes, plus the drivers door has the symptoms mentioned the link above, so if and when i ever get a remote i will have to try that fix. if you are talking about unlocking the door with the key i have that problem too. i'm guessing the lock is worn out because if i go to pass. side, it unlocks fairly easy.

Are you having problems with the key lock on the outside of the door?

Sounds like there might be a bind somewhere. Usually dont see problems locking manual locks. Have you taken off the door panel and put some eyes on the lock assembly?

Most likely. Take off your door panel and put some eyes on that lock assembly and have somebody unlock and lock the door and watch for any binding. You might also wanna look for some wear and tear in the assmebly. Good luck

Thumbs up Spring for the remotes on ebay, new or used. They're cheap.

Hey Skittle man, Get yourself a remote or two on e-bay. I got two of them for less than $30 and they are easy to program for your truck. They work great and save time and energy. You will have to fix that sticky linkage, too. Do as powerstroked says and open her up. Sometimes the long bar is just bent in the middle and it bends and flexes when you try to unlock. A little well-placed white lithium helps in there, too. I love my keyless entry. It's really uptown.

yeah, it's on the list. i have both the binding problem with the key and when i do use the power locks, it only works on the drivers door lock like half the time. like i said, it's on the todo list which comes after the honeydo list. luckily for me i work two jobs at auto shops with lots of down time so the truck gets its attention. still working on my suspension and steering right now. almost ready to put on the tires i bought about a month ago.
