Hello all, I am trying to find a water pump for what I believe is a 292 Y. The block casting # is B9AE 6015F. The water pump has a casting number of EAT 8505-B and it has a pressed on pulley. Most of the water pumps I have found have the bolt on type. The shaft is 5/8". This motor is in a 1954 F 600 Truck so it is not the original motor. Looked on Napa for a pump for a 1959 292 #58235 F 100 pickup and the pics show a bolt on pulley. What water pump do I have? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Jeff
It sounds like it is a 239 high mount pump. It would have a smaller bolt pattern than the 272, 292, 312 style pump. If you decide you want get rid of the pump let me know as I would be insterted(pm or email me). I have a 292 in my 54 with a 239 timing cover. Also the fuel pump on the 239 timing cover is different and use a smaller bolt to hold the pump to the cover. I have been meaning well did start on a artical about the different water pumps and timing covers for y Blocks and was farily close to finishing it when my hard drive went and I lost it. Hopefully this summer I can start on it again. Bill can tell you for sure.
Thank you cbfomoco! I was thinking that the front cover may have been the original but I did not think it would fit the 292. Thanks again and I will be in touch if I find the right pump.

From what you said, the pulley is pressed on the shaft. This is a 292? How/where is the fan mounted?
There are two 292 waterpumps, one car: B6A-8501-B, one truck: B6C-8501-B, both have a press on hub. The fan and pulley then bolt to the hub.

Mystery solved. When a PO changed the engine he used a 1954 239/256 waterpump. I never thought about the 239/256 pump till I read what cbfomoco posted, but as you can see the part number is EAT.
EAT-8501-B .. Waterpump
Try: joblotauto.com for the pump.
cbfomoco: thanks

I called joblotauto.com and the guy told me that the 1954 239/256 water pump was the only year for it with the high mount. You guys probably already knew that but if not thought I'd share what I found out. He also told me that is the only year with the pressed on spoke hub that I have, and said good luck finding a rebuilt one. He did give me a phone number of a rebuilder that may be able to rebuild the one I have as long as the impeller is good which it is. Thanks again for all the help it is truly appreciated!

If I can get a waterpump rebuilt for a 1934 Packard V12, you can certainly get one for a 1954 Ford. Look in the "Services Offered" section of Hemmings Motor News for waterpump rebuilders.
Ford also offered a rebuild kit for the EAT-8501-B waterpump:
B4A-8591-A .. Waterpump Rebuild Kit ~~~ Even better news, this rebuild kit also is used on all 1954 Ford and Merc V8 passenger cars (the pump is different than trucks, but the guts are the same). Try NAPA.
