Backup Alarm Doesn't Work

My 06 F150 SuperCab has just started automatically turning the backup alarm off. I can stop, turn the engine off and start it back up and the alarm goes back to normal operation. You can turn it on or off with the push of a button ... now, but wait. The first time you back up it suddenly turns off and you can push the button but its locked in the off position. It will not switch to the on position without turning the key off and restarting the engine. The sensors are clean and the on off button seems to be working fine. It only happens about 7 out of 10 times but its driving me nuts. Its under warranty and I can take it back to the dealer "YUK" but if anyone knows a simple fix I sure would appreciate doing it myself.

Back-up alarm?? Is that stock or after market? If it's stock. take it to the dealer and have them fix it. I did not know it was possible to order a f-150 with a backup alarm....

Do you mean the reverse sensor alarm?

Yes, If we must be perfectly clear its the reverse proximity sensor. Its an option on all the Ford trucks built in the last few years. It has four sensors mounted in the rear bumper to warn you while you are backing up if you are approaching an obstacle near the back of the vehicle. I can take it back to the dealer and get it fixed there is no question there. I would rather fix it myself as I would prefer not to have someone else working on my truck. Its just a personal thing, if its over a $100.00 bucks back it will go. I have just had to many experiences where you take it in for one thing and they tear up two others. I'll just take it in Monday.

Ahhhhh...

THe backup (reverse) sensor. Not a backup (beep-beep) alarm. Take it to the dealer. Sounds like a faulty sensor or control module. That's what warranties are for....

If your dealer breaks 2 other things while fixing one, it's time to find another dealer.

Did they advise what the problem is with your truck? My back up sensors have never worked since I bought the truck (used 2005 350). My truck is out of warranty.

Thanks in Advance
Davie
