Just wondering if anyone heard of or has done engine upgrade from a 5.4 to a 6.8 in a 2004 F-350. I asked this question in the engine swap forum.A few talked about trying, no ones done it. I Thought maybe I might find a Ford V10 expert on this site who would give me some advice. I know most everthing is the same on the engines . The wire harness is the question, will I need to change it to the computer under the dash.
I think there are enough subtle differences that make it not worth the trouble...trade away the 04 for best cash you can get, and invest in a 3v V10 05 version would be better plan IMO
Motor mounts, wiring, computer(s), trans cross member... front spring weights etc..etc..??? It is very possible to overcome all the obstacles but in the end a lot of work for not much gain..... especially from the point of eventual resale.... I certainly would prefer to buy a late model truck with the original running gear, not some unknown quality morph job
