Just wondering if anyone has replaced their tank with a transfer flow. Looks like a 46gal. would work for a 2006 Crew Cab short bed. Then I could get more miles per tank and not worry about miles per gal.?
I've thought about this mainly because if I find a good price I'd like to fill up as much as possible, but the added cost of the transfer tanks scares me away.
Obviously the only bang for the buck that might pay back the additional cost over time is if you can frequently find lower cost fuel and factor the ratio of gallons you can acquire at that lower cost, against the times you would have had to refuel at a higher cost fuel.... that process is to hard to predict...
That leaves you with the only other good reason to install the larger sized fuel cell...
Convenience...
Only you can determine if the added costs of the larger fuel cell and the resulting less frequent refueling stops are Worth the time, effort, and costs...
The Transfer-flow product is very good and they do get a premium price for that quality....YMMV
Thanks, Fred for the reply. Convience is my main thought. If I can get back to using my 5th wheel, I hope to go on some longer trips. I've come pretty close to not being able to get in and out of a lot of places I've gone to get fuel. I always carry a 5gal container for emergencys.
Fully understand Dave.... NOT having to get fuel is some places is a good thing...especially off the beaten path where most small type gas stations simply have no room to accomodate a 50+ foot long truck and trailer....
Like I said the product is good however most of the applications will work well with the facotry fuel gage while NOT working with the central on board computer and driver information center for miles to empty type info
I think I'm going to get one for my truck. Just for convenience. 26 gallons don't last long towing the camp trailer in the mountains. We like to camp up by the redwoods, and gas stations can be scarce, small when found, and expensive. Besides that if the kids are sleeping I don't want to stop for gas and wake them up! I'm only about an hour from Chico, CA so no shipping for me.
