Anyone do a muffler delete on their rig and leave the stock exhaust pipe in place? Want the exhaust note and mpg improvement, just don't see the benefit in spending $300 for a do-it-yourself exhaust that is only .5 inch bigger, even if it is mandrel bent. Can get a straight pipe installed for $60. I have no catalytic conv. 2002 CC LB 4x4 F350 7.3 PSD AT
you can , and you might get a little mpg gain, or loss, depending how much you going to like you straight piped exhaust sound, you might loose MPG, cause of your foot and your ear driving it,
3.5 and 4" ???????it all depend on what you going to use your truck for, and what you going to change on it or upgrade,
i just did the delete about a month ago maybe a little more, exhaust shop wanted 600 for a four inch, i said shove it, so i bought a 3 ft piece of pipe 45 bucks, and about 1 1/2-2 hours later, vroooooom baaa baaaa baaaaa zing the turbo goes. all is well
now for the fuel milage, i have no idea, it seems the same to me, i just did the delete cuase everyone on here says it lowers the egt, and the engine breathes better. i had my 6637 on for a little bit but put it back to stock, it was a little much of a drone on the highway for me, but who knows i may put it back on, i sure like the turbo sound with the 6637. hope this helps.
Yeah, keeping the right foot out of it might be hard, but all my wife needs to know is the imrpoved mpg's, right?
Looking forward to the "note" and maybe a little mpg. I'm guessing .5 mpg improvement is average. Maybe a bit more if I can control my wallet and not my ear.
