Muffler delete, good or bad?

On a 4" turbo back single exhaust system, will removing the muffler for a straight pipe have engine damaging side affects, short term or long term?

I've never heard of anyone having negative side affects, but don't take my word as fact.

That sounds good to me, I have heard lots of people doing it, but never heard or asked about how it is like. Has anyone heard the sound of a muffler delete system? do they sound good?

IMHO--there is NOTHING as sweet as the sound of a 6.0 running WOT straight piped.......except maybe a top fuel dragster. I've been straight piped for a while with no ill effects. Go for it--you won't regret anything except NOT doing it.

A straight pipe diesel sounds great, and without the cat you will also see an increase in black smoke, which is pretty cool.

"Sounding great" is a relative term
ya know that ole' saying one man's trash is another man's treasure

My "sensitive" ears couldn't deal with the drone on long trips that would resonate in the large "cab" we have

The only thing bad about the muffler and cat delete is that you haven't done it yet! Open her up and let her scream!!!

What about just cutting out the oem muffler and adding a cat del. pipe also?
I realize it's all 3.5" tubing, but for half inch bigger pipe cost half a $ Grand $eems abit pricy.

I am definately doing it now, to many people twisted my rubber arm.
As for removing the muffler and cat with stock pipes, If you put a 3.5" to 5" tip, wouldnt that magnify the sound to make it sound bigger and better?
personally, never heard any straight piped 6.0 before to compare with.

O, I forgot this, half a grand sounds like an unbelieveable deal to me, My system is a turbo back 4" single with chrome tip from pro-flo. I paid roughly $1000 for it here in Canada. All our stuff costs more, its ridiculous. Flashpaq was $526.00. Just a little more useless info.

Check my gallery for a stock system with muffler delete. Mine was done with just straight pipe, and cost less than $70 at a local shop.

I have Heard a 4", no tip, and I think a 5" tip like mine has made a deeper, throatier sound. I want to go with RBP's stainless 4" to 6" tip because I think it will be even louder and throatier yet
