I'm working on a '72 F600 with a 361. The alternator/ regulator/solenoid wiring harness was burnt up and I ordered a new one from Centech (per someone's advice on here).
The new one they sent me didn't account for the 3 wire plug that came off the old harness and went into the firewall (Centech rep says you don't need it). Well, evidently I do because nothing was happening when I turn the key.
So I ran the wires like they used to be and now when I hook up the battery posts, the engine just starts cranking by itself regardless of where the key is turned. I have to unhook the battery just to get it to stop cranking.
Any ideas on what I've done/ need to do?
I'm lost here so any ideas are much appreciated!
if you wanna rigger nig it you can put a push button in the s-terminal circuit between ign switch and solenoid. however i would wanna keep it original. A guy i used to work with had the same prob on like a 69 when he swapped 302 for a 351. we never did figure it out the right way.
