hi guys, have cali model with flying saucer behind fuel pump. is it needed blew mine up in ak.,dealer did not have part,put bolt in its place,got about 10k getting home runs good ,
If you don't have one now and it's running good, IMO you don't need it but I really can't say for sure.
It's just a damper so the fuel system doesn't see all the pressure pulses that are sent by the fuel pump like on a non-cali (Fed truck). The Fed truck fuel pressure is all but impossible to measure. The needle bounces fom 40-90 on my truck. I assume the cali trucks don't have the big swing in fuel pressure.
