I have a 59 Aerostar the has Power locks. Most of the locks work but the lock on the hitch door won't. Is there any way to check that lead with a volt meter because I can't find what fuse it belongs to.
Since your other door locks work, the power to that lock is either interupted somewhere, or the lock motor itself is not working or the lever which actuates the lock is seized. You will have to take off the hatch door interior panel to find out which one! If you energise the lock with a 12v line & it works, then your power feed to the lock is open. You can test with a voltmeter when you get the panel off.
Thanks for getting back to me Aeroman59
I tested the two leads with a volt meter but was not getting power. Going to try the using a 12 volt test light instead. I have not tried to pump 12volt through the lock choke.

I'm looking at the Haynes wiring diagram.
Sounds like you have a corroded wire or connector. If you can get 12v as close to the lift gate lock motor as possible ( remember to reverse polarity of the 12v test wires too) you can at least make sure the lock motor is O.K. It will then be a case of following the Pink/ black & Pink/orange wires back until you find the break in wire continuity or corroded plug connection. Another way would be to run new wires direct from both lock/ unlock relays; these must be O.K. since your other locks are working. Looking at the schematic, it appears you will only mometarily get 12v while you press the lock/unlock buttons, all other times you'll get nothing, since the relays will pulse to the motors to prevent burned windings.
Yeh once I started to do the check, I realized that the power wasn't contunious. I was thinking of trying to do a continuity test on both wires but not to sure were the wires come out. They go out the top of the back door on the passinger side and go back in through the top of the van. Can't find it after that. If I could figure out were the connector for the two leads is I could do a continuity check.
Not to sure if you can help me on this one but today I'm getting a beeping. 5 beeps 5x. Can't figure out what it's for. I think it's for the drivers seat belt strap. Can you lead me to a link on codes or would you happen to know?
