07 FX4 has a noticeable vibration/drone when cruising between 60-70. Had the dealer drive and confirm. They suggest it is likely a driveshaft issue? The vibration begins right at 60 mph, and is constant. If you back off the throttle it diminishes, but is still noticeable. Tires do not appear to be an issue. Truck has just over 3000 miles on it. Dealer suggests running it until next service date. Anyone else experience an issue such as this? Any comment or suggestions would be appreciated.
If it vibrates under a load and the wheel tire assembly already has been ruled out it is very likely either a drive shaft or possibly a rear diff problem. If its the rear diff clutch packs, it will probably lessen somewhat with usage as they wear down. If its the ring and pinion in the rear diff or the drive shaft itself, it won't get any better. As ford has rather lengthy TSB's related to these issues, the sooner you get them working on it the better. Speaking from my own experiences, the truck will probably always vibrate somewhat. Mine still does from 61mph to 70mph. Then it stops like someone flipped a switch.

I have a 2005 150, 5.4,longbed ext. with 57,000 and it still does the same thing. Get up to 60-70 and some kind of a shake or vibration, back off and smooths out.I had some tire balance issues, but was only temporary fix. Not sure what I'm gonna do but let my buddy whose a mech. look at it. If I find anything out I'll be sure to post it. Must be common with the 150's 2004 and up
Ford9c.....mitch150, Thanks For The Response. I Dont Really Feel Anything Thru The Steering. Im Leanin' More Toward The Differential Growl. Funny Thing, The Dealer Was Hesitant To Try Any Real Diagnosis, Which Probably Would Just Be Changin' Parts. Said If They Changed The Driveshaft, Chances Are Good They Might Get Another "noisey" One. Service Mgr Lady Had No Clue. "no Tsb For The 2007", So Must Not Be Any Problems. Piece Of Work..........anyhow, Thanks For The Comments. Mitch150 - If You Get To The Bottom Of Your Issue, Drop Me Note. I'll Do The Same For You

Not a problem nufsaid. As soon as I find out somthin' I'll be sure to post it. I don't feel mine is a differetial thing, but feels more like the front end. My buddy who I spoke of earlier had turned my rotors for me and when he did I had him look at the frontend. He noticed a little play in the balljoints and at the time the truck had 29 to 30,000 miles on it so I'm probably going to pursue that issue first and see if there is even more play in the joints.
Check under the TSB listing # 06-12-3 VIBRATION FROM THE DRIVELINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS on this FTE website.
There are several TSB's for vibration at highway speeds. TSBs don't show 2007 yet but same thing is there for 2004-2006 models...something to do with U-joints and mounting kits. Looks like it could be warranty-covered issue w/ Ford
1/2 of you guys are describing a tire problem. Crappy tires and a bad balance will get you that wierd vibration that goes away when you back off the throttle. It may also be a rim itse;f
I spent over $250 on my last truck chasing a vibration I thought was in the driveshaft. It ended up being a $7 fix to rebalance a rear tire that had thrown the balance wieght.
as for a drone, do you have a CAI? when my truck is at 40 mph and I want to speed up, I can give it a little gas, but not enough to downshift. the motor will drone and I occasionally see some vibration in the dash trim peices. sounds kinda similar to what you're describing.
If you've already had Ford balance your tires, I'd take it to a BIG tire shop and try again.
I had a vibration in the same 60-70 range that was accompanied by a nice tire slap that could be heard from 25-50 or so when the road noise would drown it out.
Turned out to be the TPMS sensor banging around loose in the right front tire. Never would have known what it was had I not been taking the tires off to put the mud flaps on and heard it roll in the tire as I rolled the tire away from the truck. TPMS system worked the whole time too.
