i have a 97 f-350 4x4 Automatic Trans. 7.3L psd. it has a 6 in. lift running on 37in. tires. its practically stock! it has a cold air, down pipe, chopped exaust, and a Hypertech stage 3 power programer. my big question is how much of a difference will i notice (no bull!), if i was to switch from the programmer to a Dp tuner or a T. Wildman with my truck the way it sits right now? will i be able to smoke the big ol' tires(without powerbraking!!), instead of hearing what sounds like a bird chirp when i take off? will i get that beautiful site of black smoke (that i dont have with the programmer), pouring out of the stack im putting on there? when i stomp the pedal will it suck me back in the seat a bit? how much/what kind of a difference will REALLY be noticed if i made the switch?
also does anybody know the stock boost and HP for for my pickup? thanks a lot guys!!!
My experience with edge and dp tuner is this...
The edge programmer smoked more and made the engine run much worse, most boost 24psi
With Dp tuner it smoked less but you could feel more power and the engine ran smooth, max boost 26psi.
You wont be able to light up 37 in tires withour bigger injectors and other mods.
Stock hp for your 97 is 225 at the crank, 180hp at the wheels. Boost with stock programming ~ 15psi
I currently have a 4 inch lift and 37 inch toyos open country with straight pipe, hm intake, dp chip with 6 positions, shimed fpr, and a stock tranny with 3.55s gears in the rear end and with that my truck is a lil slugish with those big tires. Im working on replaceing the tranny and then stage 2s. The only way you will get those tires to burn rubber is with injectors. Mine bark but not what i want. But I love my dp chip, I had superchip 1705 micro tuner and the dp blew it out tha water. Smokes good too!!
