The little LED I believe is burned out on this switch. It had been flickering on and off erratically on some occasions when pushed, but now is out completely. The O/D button still working.I was wondering if the switch assy is a dealer item only or maybe Advance Auto or someone may have one?Anyone have the Ford part #?thanks
I asked about this before and someone here said that with a micro screwdriver you can pop the cover off were the light is, I haven't tried yet I am waiting to try on a truck at the junk yard first.
I did pop the cover off.No big deal.I slid the switch assy out with the LED onit.It is a threee prong switch.Funny thin is today I tried the button again and the light came on again and flashed erratically again. It now will not come on again. Is it flashing codes or just going bad?
I got a working LED from a junkyard, but I would think that you could buy it at the dealer. I think the design is the same since they started using them(somewhere around 1990) until now. It seems they would have them just laying around, and it seems like they would be cheap as well.
they are pretty cheap to replace if they are faulty. I have a spare one here if you want it but it might cost more to ship it back to the US than to buy a new one locally.
i have the same prob with mine....it happened one day i went off road...came back and it was like that. I could careless just so it works, but it is werid how it flickers on and off though
when I imported my truck the OD button and light didn't work. After disassembling the steering column cowl I discovered the cable had been severed by the gear shift mechanism. Maybe those of you who are suffering from a flickering light are in the process of developing this condition.
It was simple to solder back together and then pad thoroughly with tape and conduit.
