I have a start-up dilemma with my '93 7.3L. glow plugs check out, are new, and carry the current. Batteries are strong. All connections cleaned and strong.
I still need to plug the truck in to get it to start without cranking on the starter. the weather has been in the mid 40's and warmer.
I have also noticed my truck's acceleration will occassionally burst forward on me after coming to a stop or making a sharp turn. The burst happens although the accelerator pedal is steady.
I am wondering where to begin on the start-up dilemma. I've read through various threads here and other sites. there have been mentions of potential air in fuel line, but i've read in my manual that my truck is equipped with an automatic fuel system bleeding mechanism.
I am clueless how to remedy this. I would love for the truck to start on its own accord like it should. I do not have a desire in burning out the starter. i am also unsure that the acceleration is or is not related to starting up. could be separate.
any insights, guidance or helpful information is valued.
You can also take a screwdriver and touch it across both of the BIG terminals on the Glow plug relay and hold it there for 30-45 seconds. Also watch your voltage to be sure they are heating.
Sorry but on the last post I was talking about the big terminals on the glow plug relay, these would be the ones to jump with a screwdriver.
sounds to me like an air intergration problem possibly fuel starvation have you checked youre fuel filter & housing o rings also you didnot mention if it creates any smoke probably white as this is a valuable diagnostic tool also check the fuel filter housing drain its a yellow lever down on the bottom of the housing twords the passenger side if it is open even slightly you will loose prime & have starting issues especially when cold and it can affect the fuel level in the housing by allowing a suction leak to occur & decrease the fuel delivery to the fuel rails good luck
there is a mixture: white, grey smoke. my glowplugsrelay system all check out (providing i check gps right: engine off, cold. positive terminal to gp tip with electrical connector disconnected)
the truck is now having trouble starting when warm.
