I had aproblem a while back with my hubs not unlocking, I fixed that, Now the problem is they lock even though its in 2 wheel drive and the hubs are in the auto mode. I reached behind the wheel and the axle will spin then go for a ride recheck and the axle wont spin. What is going on here??? Are the hubs bad? If so should i go with an aftermarket manual hub or stay with ford?
Thanks for any help,
Mike
The only way those can lock is if they are getting a vacuum pulse. You have the exact opposite problem than most everyone else.
I very much dislike the factory ESOF system, and I choose to change the lockouts to Warn premiums at the very least.
I actually have taken my trucks a step further. I am also not a fan of the unit bearings, or even the entire D50. I bought a Dynatrac pro-rock 60 for my super duty, and installed the factory D60 in my Ex. I then purchased an entire Dynatrac hub conversion that came with 35 spline outer shafts, and unit bearing eliminators, and Warn premium locking hubs.
Manual hubs have never let me down due to operation. (broke one or two, but tha is a different story).
