overflowing transfer case

overflowing transfer case

04 screw with a 5.4 and auto trans poured out 1 + qts of fluid till it stopped ! not running of course ! 84,000 mi on it and no problems ,[ yet ??] any ideas what,s happening ? did'nt seem like I added that much to the tranny .

Do you mean transmission or transfer case? It's very unlikely the transfer case was pouring fluid. If so, were was it coming from?

the transfer case fill bolt , one says drain one says fill took it out and woosh 1 qt + of tranny fluid ! always thought the transfer case was a seperate case , no common seal ? is this new tecknology to save money ?

There is a 2 way seal in the front of the transfer case to keep the oil separate. If that seal fails the oil will come from the transmission and overfill the transfer case.

thanks , I have 15000 left on extended warranty , it says it is covered , I'll contact a dealer tomorrow . first time user , ford nut too , 86 bronco 96 bronco , 04 screw , thx rclarke .
