okay id hate to beat a dead horse but i just wanna assure myself.. Now ive got a 2003 f250 cc 6.0 and am really considering doing the front end conversion to the 05+. now i want to just change the headlights and grill for now, but i dont want a chrome grill as i love my charcoal color. so my question is, would i be able to just swap the lights and grill and use my current bumper? all i would have to do is trim accordingly for the headlights to fit, buy a headlight harness adaptor and maybe trim the grill like an inch or so? would that be difficult and look bad if i did that? also how much harder would it be to just also change out the bumper to an 05+. im trying to keep the cost down cause ive found some good deals on lights and a used grill but just want to see what im getting into first.
I have not done this so I can't speak from experience, only from what I've read here.
First you need to decide if you want the 05-07 bumper or not. If you do you are probably better off waiting until you can afford everything. Otherwise if you put the 05-07 grill on with the 99-04 bumper you will have to trim it. Then if you ever put the 05-07 bumper on you will have a gap where you trimmed the grill. I believe if you want to change the whole front end there are a couple vendors that sell it in kit form, with the bumper, headlights, grill, header panel, and wiring adapter.
If you do not want the 05-07 bumper then it is just some trim work to the grill to get it to fit around the 99-04 bumper, some cutting on the header panel behing the headlights to get the headlights to fit, and the wiring adapter. I believe you can even get the 05-07 grill pre-cut to fit with your bumper off ebay.
