Thanks - somehow I missed the post/pic. Good idea - I think. But I'm still left wondering if there is any danger welding to receiver. Is the receiver steal prone to changing characteristics when welded on?

Ok wat i am trying to say is some day the X might tow that much weight right now about 12,000 its at but the hich is still streching

Your signature claims otherwise... Someday my X is gonna have a V20 in it - can I add that to my sig. now?

See the link'd pic above for what seems to be a good way to limit "slop" in the receiver to hitch linkage. That may keep the pin from getting a "running start" and limit its ability to elongate the hole.

I've done this on EVERY hitch I have...I have a samurai that I use it on the front rec mount(carries a rod/cooler rack that full weighs about 150lbs) rear hauler with another cooler for 100lbs, the RV(flat towing a samurai) the suburban and X all have the bolt as well...10 min with a drill and welder and 3 bucks in parts and the slop is gone, the stress is put on the WHOLE hitch as intended and not bouncing around causing the stress on the hitch pin and jarring the whole hitch assembly as it wobbles around...can get some more detailed pics as needed
