Okay, I just got the title on my 73, and it says it's a F260. (By the way, I got my own user name...remember kevin73?) Is there any such thing? I ran a VIN number search, it says it's a 250 4X4 with a 360...is this a typo or what the heck do I have here???
We've just about got my truck taken apart, we're doing an off-frame restoration, but I don't dare do anything more until I know what I've got here. (Hope I don't get the nomination for the world's dummest question.......)
I have a Ford F250 4x4 which I bought new in 1987. The information typed on on the sticker window as a F260, which means among other things, that it is a heavy duty F250, larger brakes, axles, and lug nuts, the VIN also indicates it as heavy duty F250. (the lug nuts are considerably larger than on a plain F250 (and a chevy 1-ton).
I have also just purchased a 1970 F260 and have done some research on the truck. It appears to me that the F260 was a government issued vehicle with limited production numbers and a wide variety of HD features such as larger brakes and drive train features. It was used as rural transportation for small sheriff offices, park rangers and such.
