What did I miss here? The hitch (receiver) is bending down? Either it is a faulty product or you are out of specs.
If it's faulty, replace it with a stock receiver and ask the dealership to warrant their work.
If you are out of specs, what did you expect?
Are you really towing 15K with it? Monsta's comments on tonge weight vs. vehicle ratings are spot on. The X receiver isn't designed for that, BUT NEITHER IS THE X!
Putting a stronger receiver on isn't going to solve the problem, just move it. A class V receiver on a VW Bug doesn't make it good to go for a 15K trailer - neither will it make your X safe.
If I misunderstood what's going on here, please forgive the rant. I hate to see people push the limits. Someone's gonna get hurt, and we all pay the price in tighter regulations.
I am replacing the hitch on my X as well. Its an 2004 and we tow a modest 8000 lb trailer. The hitch pin hole is elongated but the problem I have isthe two large cracks at the top of the hitch where the receiver goes in. The band around is intact but there is about a 1/8 inch gap at each top corner and the crack extends back past the pin hole.
Could not find any aftermarket so I have the factory replacement in the back of the truck now, just trying to figure out how to access the bolts on top of the frame member to replace it. I hope the gas tank doesn't have to come down.

ditto to this, if the rec is in fact bowed or bent there are only 2 issues it could be..a defective hitch or REALLY poor loading of the towed rig resulting in too much tongue weight....
the pin hole enlarging is bad enough, that could be fixed with 3 bucks in parts and 20 seconds with a welder, how much slop do you have when its loaded? again, very well may be part of the issue
first I have made the Excursion safer all ready
1. suped up the frame form ford with more cross members
2. I got my truck from the dealer ship with a heavy duty option. Wich means I can legaly tow more than a stock X. I have bigger disc brakes for more stoping power. I have all ready done allot to make this truck safer.
I`m only pulling 8500lbs with about 1100lbs TW and my receiver pin hole is elongating also and so is my buddy`s and he tows a 7000lb TT with about 1000lbs TW.
I tow with the Dual Cam, it keeps the TT right behind the X. mine also swayed alot the installation of a Hellwig rear sway bar fixed the majority of that and the rest was fixed by lowering the front of the TT to make it level while towing. it is now a relaxing towing experience, untill I pull into a gas station!!!!
the brakes are Power Slot Cryo Rotors and Hawk LTS Pads and the wheels are stock.
Well then those aren't "bigger" than stock".
First factor for increasing safety is for the driver to realize and respect the vehicle's limitations.
You cannot tow 15,000lbs with a guarantee of safe performance with your truck. That even exceeds the bumper pull capacity of the highest rated SD out there; an F-250 regular cab, V10, 2x4, auto, with 4.30 gears. That max tow weight is 14,300. That truck only weighs in at around 5200lbs versus your 7700+ lbs.

1 has got a point here - if several people are experiencing the "stretched" pin hole when used with "normal" tow loads. I'm about to start towing my TT and would like to eliminate this problem before it starts.
There was a discussion on welding on the X's frame that generally seemed to conclude: "bad idea". Is it the same for the receiver, or can this be safely beefed up around the pin hole without the concerns that come from heating the metal - tempering...?
how many people have the lock on the hitch to keep it from moving? See my post about front rec hitches for a pic. There is a quick easy way to keep it from moving around that will keep the pin from moving around in the hole and causing the issues..
