Smile Help Find Headlight Switch **** Replacement

This is kind of crazy in that a friend of mine who owns a 2001 Expedition has twice now broken the **** that turns on the headlights (He says that it must've been his wife). The first time, he was told by the dealer that he had to buy the entire switch assembly/cluster because the **** is not sold individually. I told him to hold on before buying another one so that I could post this to see if someone has had any luck finding a replacement **** at a reasonable price.

So this is the question; does anyone know where to find a replacement **** for the headlight switch on a 2001 Expedition or does someone happen to have a spare **** that they are willing to part with? :-)

I sure would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks!

Yikes! OK, I did some more research myself and found that the Headlight Switch **** can be purchased from the local Ford Dealer for about $24.30 plus tax. Darn, that seems rather expensive for about 10 cents worth of molded plastic.

Would anyone know where I might be able to find a suitable replacement for a more reasonable price?

In advance, thanks again!

Junkyard? Should be the same as an F-150, IIRC.

I checked it out on ebay, same price. you may want to check at the junk yards, it might be a little cheaper there.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I especially laughed at the recommendation to use "visegrips!" and thanks for giving me the ebay quote as well. What I'm going to tell my friend is that his most convenient alternative may be to bite the bullet and go to the dealer, and most of all, to tell his wife to relax her kung-fu grip!

Is the back side of that thing D shaped? I remeber my temp selector on my 2000 ford 150 cracked...A .40 cal pistol shell cut down popped right over it and kept it from spreading so it would turn the *tech term alert* domafloppy under it.
