Are you saying that the "miles to empty" and "average miles per gallon" functions are working and the other functions are not OR are all functions out?
It tells you how to enter to the console etc, he has all the pics too.
I fixed mine and the problem was: bad solder in 3 of those SMT resistors. Heat up the solder iron (pretty small one!) and in five minutes it is up and running again.
Be carefull when you remove the console, the loose resistors may drop out, you don't want to loose them if you're not a electronic geek
It's because of a couple of resistors popping of of the circuit board. Not a difficult repair if you have a small soldering iron (very small for surface mounted devices).
it just went out all of a sudden. is it usually these residtors? I dont have a soldering gun, but I know someone who does
Yep, and when you open the console you can see why
Supposely some Mexican subcontractor has done those parts?
The PCB soldering is pretty bad quality. Obviously when this is not a safety related component it can be what ever cheapest crap
I'm sometimes working with the automotive (manufacturing) test guys and the testing process there is hard, if it is anything related to safety. They are bullet proof components if they survive those tests. Like our PCM's
I have not heard that, any of our DIY tuners has never actually burned it while scraping the pcb?
