If I were going to get picks for that purpose, I would buy a couple of screwdrivers,
both long shank, of 1/4 and 1/8 inch head, and heat the shank so you could bend
the first inch or less, back to about a reverse 45 degree angle (or tighter). Bend it
so the flat will face the shank, and round off the head a bit so it wouldn't rip up the
hose. A pointed pick tends to tear up the hose, and it is about as easy to use a
knife to remove the hose then. I think I am going to try this myself.
Several specialty tool manufacturers make just such a tool. Try Lisle, Proto or Mac. I have one that looks like bent screwdriver sharpened to a point. Works great!
Any old worn out or busted phillips screwdriver can be carefully ground to a point and bent with a torch (don't heat the tip). I have one I have used for years like that.
