Charging System
The problem I have is when the engine is at idle the ammeter is fine but when reving the engine the ammeter pegs to the right indicating charge and the belt squeals which means a heavy load on the alternator. When I removed the positive battery terminal and reattached it the condition went away. This also happen last fall before putting it away for winter.
I'm thinking that the voltage regulator is causing this but not sure. Something seems to be loading down the alternator until i remove the battery from the system.
Any ideas?
Truck is a '66 with the 240 and Custom Cab.
