There should be 4 wires coming out of the switch, or two wires.
With the 4 wire, the two red/blue are the neutral safety circuit. If the switch just has blackwires coming out of it, then what you can do is get an ohmmeter and pick two of the black wires. The neutral safety wires of the switch will show continuity when you put the lever in park and neutral. The reverse switch wires will show continuity in the reverse position.
I believe one of the reverse wire colors in the harness are black with a pink stripe. I can't remember the other color, but it will not be the red/blue wires.
I hope you don't have to buy a switch. I need one for mine, and I have seen it anywhere from $69.00 to $89.00. I am just too cheap to pay that money for the switch, so I have mine rigged to a microswitch on the steering column.
Well, I am almost possitive that there is just 3 wires. I am gonna look real good this weekend. I planned on taking a voltmeter and doing a resistance test to figure out which wires I need will having my dad go through the gears. I don't want to drive the truck till I get the electrical fixed.

Good move, Dave. A thing like that is just begging for a $3 toggle switch on the dash and maybe $0.50 worth of wire. $70-90 for a switch? Sheesh, already. Anybody charges that probably isn't working hard enough for their money.
I found out that there was 4 wires but when I put it reverse, I didn't get anything on the resistance. I looked like there was some other lever on it. I don't know what it is. It isn't hooked up. The main one for the gear selection for the tranny is there but no clue what the other lever is. I might end up just putting a switch in and just flipping it on ever time I go into reverse. Have one of those switches that lights up when it is on.

That should work just fine. No real need to over-build something like this. If the switch by-passes the ignition, you should be able to turn on the backup lights with the engine off, in case you want to see something back there before starting up.
I'd be real surprised if there wasn't someone on this site who knows all about the 4 wires and where they should connect. Failing that, a service manual should have info of that kind in it.
Circuit for Backup Lights: Start at Fuse Panel Fuse #5 (15 A.) and follow Purple/Orange hash wire to Backup Light Switch terminal. From other Backup Light Switch terminal follow Black/Pink stripe wire(s) to Backup Lamp Socket.
Circuit for Neutral/Start Switch: Start at Ignition Switch "Start" terminal and follow Red/Light Blue stripe wire to Neutral/Start Switch terminal. From other Neutral/Start Switch terminal follow Red/Light Blue stripe wire to Starter Relay coil terminal. Backup light Switch and Neutral/Start Switch are in one four terminal assembly. Backup Switch contacts are closed in Reverse only. Neutral/Start Switch contacts are closed in Neutral and Start positions.
