Yahoo!! It's car show season. This coming weekend is the second biggest car show/swapmeet in Jefferson Wisconsin. Even though it's mostly post '73 Ch**y stuff it's still a swapmeet. To paraphrase the old bumper sticker, "A bad day at a swapmeet is better than a good day at work"
Bobj49f2- Do you have a booth at Jefferson (you DO have enough stuff probably) or do you just wander around like the rest of us? Just curious because I have gone the last 4 years spring and summer and last fall I remember 2 booths with some real good stuff for the old trucks, I realize you have the older stuff than my 55 anyways but its always fun to look and other people's stuff. I imagine the biggest swap meet is the Iola one in July then?
Also has anybody gone to the swap meet in Lawrenece, Ks the first weekend of May before?
I had a both one year, made enough to pay for the cost of the booth and then the state came after me for income tax. I basically told them to fly a kite, I told them I lost money and how can they tax a loss.
Anyways, Jefferson advertises that they are the biggest in WI but Iola is the grand daddy. I can do Jefferson comfortably in a day, 8 hours. Iola takes two days, if you don't race through it. Iola also seems to have more variety with parts for older and odder cars but higher prices. It's kind of like eBay, everyone thinks since they're at Iola they have a bigger crown so they can charge more.

Scott, I forgot to ask, are you going this weekend? If so PM me and give me your cell number. I like meeting up with the board's members whenever I can and put a face to the name.
And yes, I probably have enough stuff for a both but it's my "good stuff" and I can't part with it. My wife thinks I have a "separation anxiety disorder" What does she know
Where was this show at Don?
The Cobra would be a sweet ride with the 500 hp side oiler!
The cobra was at the Red Deer show last weekend. They had some nice stuff there. A lot of stangs and a couple of Cobra's. The late 60's Morpars were well represented also. There were not to many trucks but I did get pics of all the fords.
Did you notice the 50 Merc M-47? Purple and black?
The guy put a 460 in it with a volare front clip Ford 9 inch rear. Real nice paint and body on it.
And then right after the 50 Merc there is a 47 Mercury 1/2 ton that was very nice also

The 50 and the 47 are real nice.
It was the same at the Draggins Car Club Easter show here, not many Ford trucks except for a 50 with a sbc and a 31 with a 302. There was also a lifted 4X4 06 F350 PSD crewcab dually from Alberta and 58 Ranchero, that was about it for Ford trucks.
i'm chompin' at the bit for the 1st show round here, next weekend 5&6th, great little show and nice sized swap meet, bout 2 1/2 hr drive thru some of the prettiest scenery around and always a lot greener down that much further south.
i'll be like a kid @ xmas next fri nite. the panel's all set to go.
One of my favorite shows of the year is next wekend. The Riverside "Show and Go" will have 1000 cars in it. The coolest thing about it is that the cars cruise all day, so you don't have to walk the 35 block route to see them as most of them will drive by you. This is the second year I've missed because the truck isn't running yet.
Can't wait for the Western Nats, though. That one is all trucks!
There are several websites that show car shows that are pretty nice. You have some great pics posted. My favorite site is http://hotrodhotline.com/index.php. They have shows around the U.S. posted by various reporters. BTW- I'm one of those photographers and reporters for the website on the West Coast. Another site for us CA boys, is http://www.socalcarculture.com/photos.html Just click on photos.
I went to swapmeet in Jefferson WI today, great day with great weather. I found a few things I wanted. The few Ford trucks parts being offered were in rough shape and over priced but it still was a swapmeet.
Scott, sorry I didn't get to meet up with you. My cell phone didn't want to work, my wife paged me a couple of times while I was the show and I had to wait until I was on the road before I found an area I could make a call from.
Scott, one more thing, or anyone else that may have gone, did you see the world's ugliest truck there? It was located in the SW corner of the swap area. You couldn't miss it. It had a cab from a '51-52 Ford and a mess of parts from other things. The guy had a price tag of $57,000. If any one saw this and took pictures please send them to me. You guys won't believe this thing.
Went to the Pate swap meet in Fort Worth today. I brought the kids along, though, and that limited the event to a couple hours. I could have spent days there...
