Well, I've reviewed a bunch of threads and wanted to consolidate, or just plain old beat a dead horse, and ask again....
My 2001 F150 5.4L has rusted and broken off AT LEAST two studs (both on the same flange).
From what I hear, this is a bear of a job for one person and if something goes wrong, the motor will have to come out. So, i may just leave this to the local shop.
What are some recommendations, especially for longevity? They will all make power, I'm sure, and add to the cat back system, K&N Series 77 and Hypertech Power Programmer....
I recommend Bassani or JBA for shorty headers. The Bassani are the best of the 2 IMHO. I bought JBA for my truck. After I installed them a friend got a set of Bassani for his truck. I helped on his install. They fit better, have better gaskets & they come with heat schields. Plus they have 14 guage tubes & the JBA have 16 guage. Mine are about 4 yrs old & haven't give any problems. Don't go cheap is my main recomendation.
I agree....found a shop to install for $250-300....
from what i see on the Bassani site, the headers for the 5.4L are for the two wheel drive only, not the 4x4...which i dont' see why it would be different!
also, would you use their manifold studs/bolts or buy the FMC SS ones?

I bought the summits for my 5.4L. I bought them for my chevy that I had and they were great, so I couldnt beat the price again for the ford. I have the same problem with the broken studs and crap. I will tackle the issue once I get the headers.
