Good Morning All...I am trying to find the correct replacement carb for my 66 240 motor. Part number is C5TF-G. I have ordered a couple that looked correct in the picture, but when they arrived, they were slightly different. Any ideas where to look? Thanks in advance.
Hey Tommy, are you sure that is a 66 240ci engine. Reason I ask, have the Hollander Interchange Manual which usually covers between 65-79 trucks and vehciles. Under that Motorcraft # it only list the carb under 69 Ford truck. It may be interchangeable with others, but could not find crossreference, not that there is'nt one. Suggest take carb to reliable Napa, or local auto parts supplier and see if they have a Motorcraft Carb for 1969 Ford truck either 240ci or 300ci engine and compare. Perhaps member more knowledgeable will provide additional info.
I have had 4 66 F100's all with 240/300 I6 engines. All of them have had an Autolite 1 barrel carb. All hesitate when initially accelerating but not too bad after that. If you can try a Carter or Holly 1 barrel, others say they are much better. I did buy a rebuilt Autolite 5-6 years back and I think it set me back $100.00 or so. Good luck
