My F350 doesn't have a code on the aluminum door tag for the rear axle, my F250 doesn't have an aluminum door tag (doesn't even have doors... or a cab) and niether of my F150s have codes for the front axles (I know they're D44s, but additional info would be nice). All '79s.
I do know the GAWR for the 350.
Is there a code on the axles themselves I can look for? Or another way to identify them?
Should be a tag on the third member, might be hard to find at first. My third was covered in undercoating for some reason, making it hard to find the tag.
To the right of the carrier housing, clean the whole area. There you should find the BOM and codes. If you live in the rust belt, cleaning the rust flakes may wear them off.
Sometimes those codes on VIN plates are stamped away from where they belong...the trans code is a single digit, the axle code is three digits...sometimes they all run together.
hey, if you can find them, they are small, maybe and 1/8 of an inch usually starting with the number 6 and about 6 numbers long, give them to me and i can tell you exactly what it is and what it came out of origianally
