hi, i was just looking at the title for my 78 f250 4x4 and it said 4452 shipping weight- what all does shipping weight leave out? i thought my truck would weigh around 5000 or a little more

Shipping weight from the factory. The gas tank will only have the minimum amount of fuel, usually around 3 gallons. So add up the remainder of the fuel to what your tank(s) hold...(1 gallon = 8 lbs).
sweet so im looking at around 4550 lbs (19 gallon tank)
not bad for a 400 with a d44 front, d60 rear, np205, and c-6
and without the tailgate- 4500 lbs even
now i just have to lose a few pounds off me

Bill am I totally out to lunch or did they also ship without rear bumpers in alot of cases ??
Depending on the year, rear bumpers were optional. In 1978, if ordered from the factory with a rear bumper, it would have come with one. Otherwise rear bumpers were a dealer installed accessory.
i guess once i get it finished ill have to get it weighed so i know for sure, but i thought it would be a heck of a lot heavier than that (like 5500ish)
