Cam position sensor

I think mine is going out on me. Yesterday it started chugging and cutting out when I was giong down the road. It's getting worse today and the check engine light came on this morning. Anyway could someone give me the entire rundown on the removal and replacement of this thing so I can make it to work tomorrow. Thanks in advance, Dew

I just replaced mine a week ago under the mistaken impression that it was why my truck wouldn't start. 15 minute job, $165 later. Turned out it was my glow plug relay. I did notice a 4-5 mpg increase on the trip home (300 miles) oh yea,. forgot to mention my truck only has problems when over 100 miles from home.
2000 F250 7.3L Lariat, 120,000 miles bought new. Check the sponsers web site
http://catalog.powerstrokeshop.com/p...&siteid=214083 for brand new oem sensor for $100. I wish I had bought one for the glove box. (www.powerstroke.com)

I got it. Thanks it was an easy job. I took it for a drive and so far the problem is gone. I'm gonna keep the old one for a spare. I figure if the new one ever fails I can still get home with it. I got the new one from IH for 104 dollars.

To me your problem sounds like a loose connector or frayed wire harness both under the valve cover.. Had the same problem afew months back and found the 9 pin UVC harness connector was loose the one or more injectors were not working, along with a Service Engine Soon light.. Mine was about a 1/4" loose.. Have a pic if you want to see it.. Made a shim to slip behind the badly designed plastic locking tabs to prevent this from happening.. Did you read any faults codes? I got a P1316.. (ford fixed this problem in late 01, i understand).. My other UVC connector was also loose but still working.
