So after a month of waiting to see if the flowmaster sound would start but it hasnt, it sounds nice at the startup but when im at a stop light or accelerating from one i hear nothing. i find out that their is no flowmaster logo on the side of my muffler. looks like a flowmaster but their is no serial number or flowmaster logo on the side of it. im going to the muffler shop tomorrow. any suggestions on how i should handle this?

If it were me,I'd go back with my paperwork and make a scene in front of other customers.Demand for them to replace the fakes with real ones at no charge to you,and also demand a partial refund for the toruble they put you through. When you do this in front of customers,it can hurt thier business, therefore they are more likley to accomadate you.
Then, after they fix it for free,I would never use thier shop or reccomend it to anyone.
I'm confused. Did you pay to have a shop put on a Flowmaster muffler and they put on a different muffler? Was this muffler shop in College Station...perhaps on campus?
All kidding aside (for now). The flowmasters I had on my Mustang were only stamped on one side, so maybe your stamp is in not on the side facing down. If it is a flowmaster it's obviously not the series you want. Perhaps you're looking for something more like a series 40? Talk to your shop and see if you can cut a deal.
haha bridge. he installed it the muffler on its vertical side. so i have already gotten under the truck and looked on both sides and their is no stamping of words on either. the only words on the muffler is the word INLET for the pipe. i asked for a 40 series specifically. i think the super 40 would be in a black case right? thats a good idea buckeye but i wanna get the guy who installed it to look at it first before i get all crazy on him
Well, have him look.It could have been an accident where he just grabbed someone else's muffler without noticing.
However,if he tries to screw you,do what I'd do.
My buddy got a dual exhaust put on his Mustang, but they put on the wrong one by accident. The muffler shop replaced the system for free, refunded him 25% of his bill, and gave him 5 15% off coupons to give out,and a 20% off for him to use next time he came in (they also did brake work).
all the big companies stamp their names on the mufflers. did you get the work done at Midas by chance? they have a muffler system that looks alot like the Flowmaster...I think they call it their Ravin line.
I'd demand they replace it for free. especially if the paperwork says Flowmaster
yeah im positive its fake "Flowmaster picked up on their mufflers being knocked-off when units like the one above would show up at their facility for warranty claim. This is a cheap Mexican imitation being sold to exhaust shops looking to make a bigger cut when an unsuspecting customer asks for a set of Flow's. Flowmaster says to always make sure their name and patents are stamped into the case. These cheap knock-offs do not have the same structural design and will eventually fail as seen here." came off a site i just looked at. maybe this dealer has been selling fake flowmasters to all his customers.
nah i got it at a place in town called Bills Muffler. they have a "Official Flowmaster" dealer banner out side their shop. i have the receipt and it says flowmaster on it. ill head over there tomorrow. thanks for input guys
one more thing.. i had it done on march 19th of last month. is it too late to ask them about it? would they tell me i tried to change out mufflers myself?
nope, all mufflers have a "break-in" period. they will naturally get louder. obviously you gave yours a little bit of a chance. you can look at the welds in the rest of your exhaust. they'll all look the same unless they've been monkey'd with. it's kinda obvious
I'm not impressed by local muffler shops. Their prices are usually pretty high for nothing special. I went to a place in Killeen the last time I had some custom muffler work done when I was in high school. it was about 10 years ago though, so I can't remember the shops name. I stick to big name places now like Midas
just got back from the muffler shop. guy said some of the 40 series doesnt have a flowmaster logo. something about a legal battle that flowmaster lost and now they dont have logos on the 40 series. sounds like bull, i dont see anything about that on a search i did. but he said he has a new shipment and he'll replace mine on wednesday morning free of charge with a case that says flowmaster
