just got back from the muffler shop. guy said some of the 40 series doesnt have a flowmaster logo. something about a legal battle that flowmaster lost and now they dont have logos on the 40 series. sounds like bull, i dont see anything about that on a search i did. but he said he has a new shipment and he'll replace mine on wednesday morning free of charge with a case that says flowmaster
That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Imagine a world where you couldn't label products. Imagine trying to buy products at a grocery store, how would you know what you're getting?
You need to tell that guy that you want your money back TODAY and might consider coming back next week and allow him to cover his butt. If he doesn't refund your money threaten to notify Flowmaster and the attorney general of his business practice. The threat of the gov't going through all his books should be enough.

I would call Flowmaster, and see if thats true. After you get it replaced with a real Flowmaster, you should call them back and report a dealer that is fraudulently selling.
the lines of b.s. that this guy is feeding you is enough to make me sick. demand a new flowmaster muffler, that has the stamping on it, or else. clearly there would be no reason why flowmaster, which has been around for well over 20 yrs would all of a suddent be in a legal battle (over the name, i'd assume). B.S X100... this guy needs to quit ripping people off. Flowmaster that doesn't have a stamp... cause they are getting sued... ROFLLOLHAHHAHHA... that's great...

yep
btw, I went to high school in Belton. My girlfriend (now wife) lived on the loop between Killeen and I-35, so I usually went to Killeen for everything since it was so close.
WheelMA, i will report the guy to flowmaster after i get a real one put in. ill have him show me the muffler with the flowmaster logo on there to make sure and after its put in. ill drive him and call them up.
Just installing a flowmaster muffler isn't going to make your truck THAT much louder than stock. I put one on mine. Just like you said it's got a good rumble at start up, and it's got a little more drone to it, but it's not that night and day change you're looking for. If you want it loud, pull the muffler out all together, or get a real cat back and delete the cats. Get the guy to make you a kick *** true dual system for cost because you're so disgruntled!?
no, i dont want this guy doing anything else to my truck. i just want him to put in a flowmaster and ill get another muffler shop (a big name one) to finish up what i want. ill report this shop to flowmaster and maybe log a complaint on the better business bureau
4DOORSOR, not sure what happened with your truck, I noticed a lot of difference, even on the Ranger with duals out the tail. Even moreso with it chopped (just muffler and turndowns), but an incredible difference with it on the Silverado (can't beat a V8 with Flowmaster sound, IMO).
I had the intention of taking a picture of mine for reference, but the camera is dead, so here's a picture from the internet, this is what your muffler should look like if it's a true Flowmaster:
better picture: but without the flowmaster logo <a href="http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=952448wq6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1653/952448wq6.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
all the big companies stamp their names on the mufflers. did you get the work done at Midas by chance? they have a muffler system that looks alot like the Flowmaster...I think they call it their Ravin line.
I'd demand they replace it for free. especially if the paperwork says Flowmaster
Yes the Midas line is Ravin. They are black and say Ravin on them. Looks and sounds similiar to a flowmaster. I have Ravin 33 series on my truck.

Nothing happened to my truck. It's just not very loud. I've had flowmaster on my old Blazer and Mustang. With 4 cats on a truck the only way I liked the way it sounded was with no muffler at all.(Which even at that is most likely as loud as your Silverado) Just saying the best way to get sound out of these engines/trucks is to get a cat back with a bigger pipe diameter or else cut out the cats.
Four cats will kill the sound on any engine, period. I highly doubt your quad-catted F-150 with open exhaust comes close to the 40 series chopped sound. I can't imagine you having a 40 series and not having "loud" sound.
Wr3ckin_Cr3w, you got ripped. Definetly return the favor and don't dare pay a penny for anything else from this shop. Fix it and run.
I have a rolex to sell you that works real well - may leave your wrist a little green for some reason, i'm not sure why, but i'll give you a helluva deal!
Ok, I'm kidding... but yeah, it's a knockoff. A flow would have stamping on it. Gl with getting your new muffler (and let us know what happens).
