I have a 1983 Bronco. One Day my wife used it and know I have no spark. I've tested the coil, ECM, and the disturber and everything checks out ok. But I don't get a spark out of the coil wire. whats going on I'm dumb founded. Has anyone else had this problem? The electrical wiring is on the old side being from 83 but seems fine. Thinking about replacing with Painless wiring. Has anyone used their wiring before? Any help would be apprecaited.

1983 Ford Bronco that thinks its a Chevy "Like A Rock"
Iwould see if the wires from the distributor to the spark plugs are still in good condition and replace them if necessary. Also, check the plugs to make sure they have not gone out ar if they are corroded. I'd change both the wires and the plugs if it were my truck
Check to see if the distribuor rotor is turning. I had the same problem. It was a stripped timing gear. It wasn't turning the cam and subsequently the distributor.
I had taken the ignition module and coil to Autozone and they tested them out and said they were fine. The rotor does rotate. All of the electrical wires are in good shape. I'm almost wondering if there is a computer somewhere in the truck that took a #####. Everyone that I've talked to doesn't know what it could be because of everything else tested out alright. I think maybe it's just time to turn it into my new race truck.

You never answered my first question.
Do you have power to the positive side of the coil with the key on ?
Have you done a resistance test of the coil ?
You didn't say which Ignition system you have on that engine.
Duraspark?
Mil1ion,
Thanks for telling me to go check and see if I had juice to the postive side of the coil. I put my test light on and evidently pushed the connection together. When I went to check for power it fired right up. I had to replace the original U shaped harness, because the positive wires had broken apart. Thanks for the info.
What would you look for if you had no power to the coil ?
1985 f-150 302 efi unsure of the ignition sys, althought the module is on the dist.? I also have no spark we changed the coil w/o any luck I also changed the module, checked all of the fusable links and the last thing is either a computer, or the computer relay. please advise.
Just attach a voltmeter to the BATT side of the ign coil with the ign switch on and test for voltage.. it can be lower than battery voltage because it passes through a ballast. (if you disable your starter i.e. take the wire off) you can test start coil voltage (should be within 10% what the battery voltage is because it's a direct connection (no ballast) Just get a helper to hold the ign switch to start.
