Picking mine up tomorrow with Factory NAV. I test drove several with the Factory NAV and I was very impressed. I am returning an 04 FX4 so I know the truck - I also have a Garmin PDA GPS that works great so spending the extra $'s for a factory unit was a big decision. There are many units available on the aftermarket that will give you similar Navigation features at a lower price than the Factory unit but you'll either need to rip out the stock radio or put something up on the dash. The Factory unit is easy to use, works through the stero and looks GREAT! but you are paying for fit and finish. If you are ok with this and it fits your budget - easy choice, if not... there are lots of other options.
I'll check back once I've driven for a few days and let you know.
I have a question for others - In Canada the factory NAV doesn't come with sat radio - does anyone know where i can order the Sat module and antena to add to the unit - can it be bought after market?
Is the factory nav available as an accessory ? I assume I could fit it to my 06 FX4 ? I know they are an option now but wondered whether I could buy it from Ford and fit it myself.
I got the factory nav system in my 07 supercrew Lariat. Also have one in my wifes Honda Pilot and a Garmin 2610 portable unit for other vehicles.
The Ford factory nav system works well, just a little different than the Honda factory nav system which I have used for several years. The 07 supercrew is only 3 weeks old so I haven't had as much opportunity to use it but I like it so far. It just won't let you do certain things when travelling above 5 mph but it is not that big of a problem.
Bottom line- would I order another truck with this nav system? - answer is YES.
how much is it to buy....and can you have sat. radio with the factory nav.....cause i have the sirius for free and i'm going to continue it once thats up so i want to be able to use that also....
I would get one you can take with you when you trade vehicles, especially if you trade every 3 years or less.
On the long term note, if you dont buy ESP premium care you might have the extremely high dollar Nav system break and it is extremely expensive to replace. What if Nav system is in great shape but the audio section goes down 4 years from now. I just dont like integrated stuff. One thing breaks and you lose several others.

good point....i thought about getting the brandmotion unit but i like the space on the dash to use for stuff....
Yes I did get the Sat radio and premium sound system with the Nav system. I could have used my portable Garmin 2610 instead of getting the Nav system on the truck but I liked having the Nav system built in. Have had the factory Nav system on two Hondas and have not had a problem with either of those units.
I do know that from a purely economic standpoint it is more cost efficient to get a portable unit and move it from vehicle to vehicle. Even more cost efficient would be to just buy some good maps but nav systems work for me and I feel it is also worth the expense to me. It is a bonus when you sell the vehicle and in some cases can help make a sale.
