my 77 bronco (300-6 cyln) is an extreme rough rider. even the littlest bump in the road shakes the whole truck. I have no idea what the previous owner did to the truck but other than shocks it looks mainly stock. seems I got something loose or worn out right under the drivers seat. I checked the tranny mount and it doesn't seem broke but seems loose when I pry on it. no popping or jerks when hitting any potholes just real rough. common characteristics of a Bronco?
Also why I have your attention, anyone have a suggestion on the best 300-6cyn exhaust system for it. It’s still all orig, torpedo muffler and all. it idles and runs good but it sucks on gas mileage (which it seems typical for them) but seems like a lot of low end power but takes forever to get up to 55 mph. I did the typical, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. anything else that might help. any information or suggestions would be really great. thanks in advance.
I had a '83 F150 shortbox with a 300/6 in it and found out later the original owner put one-ton suspension in it and a RV cam in the engine when he rebuilt it. The truck rode like a coal cart and like yours was great on low end but sucked the gas. I got about 12 mpg regardless whether in town or on the highway.
If the sound is under the seat, check out the radius arm bushings. When you look at the side of the truck from a distance they are clearly visible inder the door. Common problem
