Wow, I've talked to a couple of people that did the sky kit, and they said they only got 3"(don't know what they did different)....
How much does cage won't for those progressive coils?
Saw them in last issue of 4wheeler or Peterson's...
IF you get them, let us know how they perform.
What most people do when you install the sky kit is pull the 2in. stock lift blocks out to reduce the leverage that your axle has on your leif springs. Doing this will reduce wheel hop. This is what Im planning on doing and if this is done you will only get 2 or three inches of lift over stock.

instead of paying $135 for the sky kit go get some front hangers, for the rear leaf pack....for every 2" you drop the rear eye of the spring you get about 1" lift. The shackle is 3.5" long so flipping it will make the eye drop 7", youll get about 3"-4" of lift. Just go look at the front hanger on your rear spring pack.
You could certainly get the front hangers and put them in the rear but then you have to fab some brackets that will hang down from the frame so that you can bolt everything lower so that you can match skys brackets. If you have time and materials you can make the stock junk work....It was worth the $135.
the front hanger puts the shackle pivot about 1.5" below the frame, every sky hanger Ive seen is no more than 2" below the frame.....SO i dont know what youre talking about. The only advantage the sky piece has over this idea is, its mucho beefier.
You need to drop the front hangers to keep the pinion angle within a reasonable degree. Droping the rear hangers only will also move the wheels forward in the fenderwells & will look kinda wierd.
I've been wondering about doing a stock shackle flip on my 79 F250 4x4, in order to remove the stock 3" blocks (I've always read here they were 4", but I just went out and measured them) before I put a 4" lift on the truck.
I was wondering who has any info on how this would turn out (before lift and after), and if it would throw my axle position way off from the wheel wells if I did the flip/no block combo?
yeah, if youre street driving go ahead an lower the front of the spring too.
If you do that and you do any type of 4 wheeling where you are stuffing the tires up into the fender well its going to hit the back edge of the wheel opening.
