I was wondering if they make a 30 inch tire for a 16 inch wheel... but around 10.5 or 11 inches wide. I found 30 inch tires but they are 9.5 inches wide and I need something with a lil more meat on them. Or is it the higher the tire the wider it gets? This is a lil off subject but what should i dont on the back brake drums if the bleeder valve is rusted on. I dont want to start cranking on it and round it off. Thanks for all the help!!!
Don't know too much on the tire sizes. Sounds like you need to replace the rear master cylinders in your drums (they're like $15 each, and should take an hour to replace yourself). You'll find all the details you need in the forums, or just ask and you'll get the info here.
Interco makes a "thornbird" that is 30x11.50x16.
Not a great off road tire, but with only 30 inches, unless you are installing them on a built golf cart or a samuri I dont suspect this is going to be used off-road????
This is a pertty short tire, what are you going to install them on?
As for your rear wheel cylinders, if you can loosen the fitting for the brake line, you can bleed the brakes there instead of the actual bleeder. Eventually you will have to replace the cylinder, but that should buy you some time if until you do. They are super cheap, but consider changing the brakes, and hardware while you have the drums off.
Iam goin to be putting them on a 79 f-250 but yea i have seen them thornbirds and I would say I need something more agressive. I'll probly just have to go with 31's then.
You mention that you need something more aggressive, and you are considering a giant 31" tire. Have you considered a larger diameter? Aggressive can only help so much. Even a not so aggressive tire can make easy work of an obstacle if the diameter can help the truck roll over the obstacle, and prevent the truck from dragging the under side.
That 79 has pretty big wheel wells, and can easily fit a larger tire.
I'm running 33x12.5s on my 79 F-250 4x4, and they fit with no problems. At least go for 31s, then you'll have a lot more styles and widths available to choose from.
If your set on 30 in tires go with 255-70-16 the dia of these are 30.05 and Aurgathor
your correct in saying that 265-70 are acually 30.60 dia.
Anyhow the 255's will be very common if thats what you want.
Yea I would put bigger tires on it I know I could but I just put a flat bed on it and with 31's or bigger I have a felling it will rub and 1dery do u know roughly how wide them 255/70/16 are?
AURGATHOR
Is correct, when you see the first numbers on a tire size like 255, 265, 275 that is in
mm so 255 is roughly 10 inches or 10.03in to be exact anyhow that is equaol to the section width sidewall to sidewall and the second nimber is the percent of the section
width high.
Just go to 1010tires.com and they have a calculator to help you out and a tire buying
guild to help you select the manufacture you wnat along with sizes.
